With support for three priority levels and up to 20 devices per controller, ASSIST provides a simple, robust, and scalable way to keep people safe and informed.

ASSIST Notification System

The ASSIST system is made up of four simple devices, a Controller that powers everything, Buttons people press to raise alerts, Local Indicators that show exactly where the alert happened, and System Indicators that display alerts in shared areas. ASSIST FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is the ASSIST Notification System?

ASSIST is a compact, hard-wired alert and signalling system designed for smaller facilities that don’t require a full nurse-call platform. It allows users to raise Red (High), Yellow (Medium), or Green (Low) priority notifications via buttons, with visual and audible alerts shown on Indicators.

What devices make up the system?

The system consists of four components:

    • ASSIST Button – Used to raise/cancel alerts; includes priority colour selection.
    • ASSIST Local Indicator – Lights above doors or in corridors to show alert location.
    • ASSIST System Indicator – Central audible/visual annunciator.
    • ASSIST System Controller – Powers and manages the whole system.

At minimum, you need 1 Button + Local Indicator + 1 Controller.

What are the three alert types?

Green (Low): Slow repeating single chime
Yellow (Medium): Moderate double-chime
Red (High): Rapid single-chime

Who is this system designed for?

ASSIST is intended for small clinics, therapy rooms, allied health suites, bathrooms/toilets, consultation rooms, schools, shops, superstores, restaurants, supermarkets or any environment requiring simple and reliable signalling without complex network infrastructure.

Where can I buy the ASSIST Notification System?

You can buy the ASSIST system from Miracle Electronics through one of its resellers with future opportunities to purchase from a local wholesaler.

How much maintenance does ASSIST require?
Regular testing of buttons, indicators and power supplies is recommended. Because the system is hard-wired, maintenance requirements are typically low compared to wireless alternatives.
Is ASSIST suitable for bathrooms and accessible facilities?
Yes. ASSIST is well suited to accessible toilets, change rooms, consultation rooms and other locations where users may need to summon assistance quickly.
Does ASSIST require internet or network connectivity?
No. ASSIST is a hard-wired standalone notification system and does not rely on external networks for normal operation.

USAGE & OPERATION

How do I raise an alert?

Press the large centre button. It lights up in the selected priority colour and triggers connected Local Indicators and any System Indicators.

How do I cancel an alert?

Press the small cancel/reset button. A triple-tone will confirm cancellation, and all indicators will turn off.

What is Cleaning Mode?

Triple-press the cancel button. The button will:

    • Flash brightly
    • Disable its main activation for ~10 seconds
    • Play countdown tones when exiting cleaning mode
Why do Local Indicators stay lit?

A Local Indicator stays on until the corresponding Button is cancelled. It always reflects only the colour of its paired Button, even if other buttons have higher-priority alerts.

How loud is the System Indicator?

Approximately 80dB at 1 foot at maximum volume, adjustable using the rear pot.

What happens if multiple alerts occur?

System Indicators show only the highest priority active alert in the system. Local Indicators only shows the alert of the button it is connected to.

INSTALLATION & SETUP

What cabling is required?

4-core, 0.44mm² cable (or equivalent) for bus cabling. Total bus length should not exceed 100 metres. Local Indicators and auxiliary inputs are wired directly to Buttons, not to the bus.

How many devices can the Controller support?

Up to 20 Buttons (each button with a Local Indicator connected). For 20 devices, split number of devices to 10 per bus port. System Indicators also count toward device limits.

How do I address buttons?

Each button must have a unique address (0–19), set using:

    • Rotary dial (0–9)
    • High/Low switch (adds +10)
    • Duplicate addresses trigger flashing + beeping.
How do I set the priority colour on a button?

A three-position switch selects:

    • Green (Low)
    • Yellow (Medium)
    • Red (High)

This determines the colour displayed and the tone played.

What is the recommended mounting height for Buttons?

For help/warning purposes, typically 1200–1500 mm above finished floor level.

How should System Indicators be positioned?

Place in visible, frequently staffed locations (reception, staff rooms, offices). Multiple indicators can be used to increase coverage.

What happens during a power outage?
ASSIST operates from a 12VDC controller. Backup power can be provided using a UPS to maintain operation during power interruptions.
Do I need a UPS/backup power?

The documentation notes a UPS may be used if backup is required.

Can ASSIST be expanded in the future?
Yes. Additional Buttons, Local Indicators and System Indicators can be added up to the supported system capacity, allowing the solution to grow with your facility.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

What are the voltage requirements?

All devices operate on 12VDC nominal (8–14V). Source is provided by the Controller.

What are the power consumption specs?

Button: 15mA idle, 35mA average active, 90mA peak w/ Indicator
Local Indicator: 20mA active
System Indicator: 20mA idle, 120mA peak
Controller: 15mA idle, 12VDC 2A output per channel

How do auxiliary inputs work?

Buttons include a dry-contact auxiliary input that can trigger or reset notifications from compatible devices (e.g., pull cords, external switches). They are Normally Open by default.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Why isn’t my Button powering up?

Check:

  • Cabling/terminations
  • Short circuits
  • Whether the Controller port is overloaded
Why is my Button flashing red-green and beeping?

It has a duplicate address. Change to a unique address.

Why isn’t the Local Indicator lighting?

Possible causes:

    • Incorrect wiring
    • Short circuit
    • Incorrect colour wiring at the indicator
The System Indicator isn’t responding – what should I check?

Wiring and terminations. Check for a short circuit and ensure button has a unique address.

Why won’t the System Indicator reset after cancelling a call?

A button was likely disconnected while active. Power-cycle the Controller (off for ~10 seconds).

The System Indicator is flashing red-yellow – what does this mean?

There is a short between bus and power (12V/GND). Check wiring at all bus devices.

Why is the Controller’s fault LED on?

The Bus port is overloaded or there is a short circuit.
